What to expect at The Eccles Theater

Upon entering from Main Street, you’ll be greeted by a huge glass lobby. It’s got glimmering chandeliers, colorful balustrades, and a beautifully decorated floor. Having been designed by world-renowned architect Cesar Pelli, these features are no surprise. A lot of care and effort has gone into designing the Eccles Theater. Attending a show here feels very dramatic, unlike many performing arts venues. 

And, if you arrive early and pass through security, there are plenty of things to see. The outdoor terrace offers excellent views of the city and the Oquirrh Mountains in warm weather. There’s also a permanent display of the Salt Lake County Visual Art collection, bringing an artistic touch.

The high-quality design continues into the main auditorium, too. The design of the Eccles Theater is inspired by the canyons of southern Utah. Think rippling red rocks and dramatic ridges. The interior features colors and patterns reminiscent of these natural rock formations, with an awe-inspiring LED star-field ceiling that mimics a cloudless night sky.

Of course, there are also more practical things you should expect on your visit. Coat check is available free of charge in the lobby near concessions. Multiple concession locations offer beer, soda, water, and snacks. Finally, the theater can be busy — please arrive about an hour before the scheduled start time to account for traffic, parking, visiting outlets, and finding your seat.
