Shen Yun Performing Arts at Eccles Theater

Long before the period of Communist reign, FIVE THOUSAND years of legends, arts, and culture prospered in each region of China's mainland, and year in and year out, the New York City-based Shen Yun breathes life into these enduring treasures for all to enjoy! This year will be the same.

Celestial gods walking across the land. Vast fields of grass streaked by nomadic hordes of Mongols. And the wartime valor of dauntless soldiers. Shen Yun’s yearly shows explore the many legends and parables that transcended Chinese empires, creatively portraying their romances and tragedies with aspects from Taoist and Buddhist beliefs to round up each tale.

The forthcoming production will showcase twenty narrative segments of ethereal performances in about 2 hours. Classically trained dancers dressed in strikingly colorful costumes will flutter through the floor, narrating the event’s sagas through 17 or 18 complex folk dance routines. In addition, 2 or 3 vocal and instrumental solos will intersperse these episodes with soaring melodies — both traditional and original.

A full-piece symphony orchestra will play rousing music throughout the show, inventively incorporating Western and Chinese instruments. In terms of staging, Shen Yun utilizes a state-of-the-art digital backdrop to project life-like scenarios, pulling viewers into the world of ancient China in a jaw-dropping fashion.

For the run's pit stop in Salt Lake City, Utah, the premier George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Theater will serve as host. Its renowned stage, honored by dozens of the past decades’ greatest performers, will present the foundation for the impressive exhibition, further enhancing it with splendid sight lines, pristine light setups, and perfectly balanced acoustics.
