Back To The Future – Theatrical Production at Eccles Theater

Going back in time to the 1900s, precisely in the 50s and 80s, The musical, Back To The Future, shares the same narrative from the late 1980s movie and was also adapted for the stage by the movie's originators, Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis. The high-activity and vividly bright play tells the story of Marty McFly, an easygoing high school kid.

The show is set in motion as our main character experiences a regular routine in a teenager's lifestyle, participating in clubs (especially in Marty's music group) and spending time with his significant other, all while being rather curious of the things he finds. His inquisitive spirit becomes Marty's single burden, as upon making contact with Doc Brown on a fateful evening, Brown explains that is the first time traveler to make a time machine (which in truth, is the DeLorean) work. A sudden emergency that takes place during their meeting causes Marty to accidentally turn on the DeLorean, surprising Marty and moving him backwards to three decades ago in 1955. Originally confused with what just happened to him, Marty eventually realizes that to make his way back to his own time, he must also redirect events in 1955, and his mother and father who have yet to fall in love, back to what actually happened.

With similar creatives from the movie it was based on, each set of the legendary show is represented as a callback to the locations from the movie, encompassing Hill Valley High School, Doc’s lab, the McFly’s house, and numerous locales in the Hill Valley neighborhood. Both the stage and clothing creations also stay true to the decades they represent. The musical's transfer to the West End platform allowed it to showcase one of the best franchises ever made, while implementing changes and innovations only achievable on a theater stage.
